Ty Wenzel wrote her first book when she was thirteen, a 324 page tome about two sisters with a crumbling family - Brideshead Revisited on PBS had a lot to do with that. The book was crap, however writing became like breathing to her. Watching the gentrification of the Bowery from the early 90s through 2002, she felt the surly world of the Bowery deserved an ally. It wasn't that Wenzel loved climbing over sleeping whinos every day on her way to work, but the legendary character of the neighborhood was soon morphing into one big antiseptic NYU dormitory. She was bartending on the Bowery at the time, and was motivated to write a "memoir" about her wild experiences as a mixologist. But it was all a ruse. What she, in fact, described was the gentrification of her beloved Bowery - Sunshine hotel an all.

Ty Wenzel was an editor for Cosmopolitan Magazine and a fashion coordinator for Bloomingdale's before her years as a writer. Her day job is as a web developer and graphic designer under her company, Design Shrine. She lives in East Hampton, New York, with her novelist husband, Kurt Wenzel, and their young son. Her passions are vast, but she is known for her human rights activism and sparkling personality.
